O’keefe

After the successful release of his latest video My Girl Is Different, we caught up with Brooklyn rap arist O’keefe to ask him a few questions, on the music industry.

With the release of your last project, how has your life changed?

With the release of my last project, I felt like I was able to get my message and expressions across, as regards to what I see as My Dream Girl Is Different so everyone else could get my perspective as to what my definition of My Dream Girl Is Different is all about, which doesn’t much differ from a lot of people’s fantasy of this Cinderella fairytale love fantasy world.

How do you think the COVID-19 pandemic altered the music industry?

I think the COVID-19 couldn’t have came at a better time in the music world, just due to the fact of the streaming services. Just think about it, if the virus had arrived before streaming services existed, we as the music industry would be hurting even more as far as sales. Because we didn’t have the luxury of streaming music digitally yet but instead buying physical copies. This COVID-19 pandemic going on just falls right into today’s music industry . So I’d say we’re lucky enough to catch a break because it could’ve been worse while people in quarantine and go outside with all the non-essential stores being closed which is where sales where made for physical copies.

Do you plan on releasing new music in the near future?

Yes, I’m actually planning on releasing a lot of music this year and I’m currently working on three different project tapes aiming for the summer time. Titled Hey It’s Ok, Hey I’m OK and Psychotic Baby so basically dropping 2 hip hop tapes and 1 rock tape. People will fully get to know me more and who I really am as a person.

What would you tell upcoming artists trying to make it in the music industry?

To all up and coming artists I just want to say, keep going even when at doubt, your all you got. Continue to be your true self, believe in what your doing and get yourself a solid genuine team. Nothing is going to come together easy or be right. The first time, everything will come together as it should as long as you keep going. Which is part of the process which I think is the best part because that’s how you learn, learn early from your mistakes. You have to be your biggest fan and critique. You can’t be worrying about what others have to say. Create your own lane and wave and everything will fall right into place. But ask yourself how bad do you want it, and you’ll get your answer by being true to yourself.
