Kyle McKenzie: Behind The Lens
Kyle McKenzie is an up and coming filmmaker & photographer from Los Angeles. He has had the privilege of working with major celebrities from around the world. His exceptional skills behind the camera has shown the world priceless moments and captivating views. We recently caught up with Kyle and asked him a few questions re the current state of his industry:
With becoming a filmmaker and photographer, how has your life changed?
When I began working in the industry, I was only 18 y/o, a senior in High school at the time. Throughout the final chapter of 12th grade, I had to learn how to prioritize work, situations, and friendships. Once I understood what was important to me, and what/who deserved my time, I began to perceive people, art, culture, and everything about life differently.
How do you think the COVID-19 pandemic altered the film industry?
It has created a moment for everyone to disconnect from their daily routines. Once this is all over or under control, it will be great to see that productions will now have to be more health conscious, even more so than they already were. And also for everyone in the industry to re-evaluate their reasoning and purpose for doing what they do and the art they want to create.
Do you plan on working with more major celebrities in the future?
Who knows what type of clientele I’ll work with next… The mystery is always there. Just grateful for those whom I’ve worked with in the past and ones I will work with in the future
What would you tell upcoming filmmakers photographers trying to make it in the industry?
Fill your brain with knowledge, look past the negativity, and know your worth! There’s an abundance of people all striving for similar goals, so make sure you know what you’re talking about when everyone in the room is listening to you. And like my Mother always says: “remember first impressions last!?
