June Jonez is the Music Manager We All Need
It only took me a few minutes to realize that music manager June Jonez was a manager I wish I had. I was young, big eyed, and full of ambition when I started my music career years ago. Of course I thought I knew it all and think I didn’t need any help. Well I was wrong, one thing I wish I had a was a manager, and nowadays, if you don’t have a manager, most record labels and pr companies won’t take you seriously. “Do you have a manager?” was a question I heard often and even more so now. Having good management can present more opportunities for you in the music industry that will help you build a long lasting network.
June Jonez started as an artist, but eventually transistioned to the management side of the industry and now has become a well known music manager. He started off by managing super producer London On Da Track, now he is managing young rap acts Derez Deshon & GBaby. He has been able to bring Derez Deshon to the forefront of the rap industry in just a short time and is doing the same with up and coming fellow artist GBaby. With 11 years in the game, June Jonez has been able to solidify a foothold in the rap industry and build a network to ensure that his artists are getting the best deal. Consistency and determination are qualities that come to mind after I spoke with Jonez. These are both qualites that all good managers possess. I recently spoke with Jonez and was able to ask a few questions.
What do you like most about being a music executive? Being able to help change lives and make dreams come true through music.
What are your plans for 2020? Launching a new record label along with releasing new artist like GBaby & Quantrelle through the label and a roster of new artists.
Where do you see rap music industry 5 years from now? Everything is going digital and music is getting younger and younger. It’s a gift and a curse, you used to have to be validated somewhat before people heard you. Now you can go online and drop music and people from all around the world can hear it. Everyone has to be able to adjust to the change. Were able to get music out much faster than we were able to back in the day.
June Jonez is set to make some real noise in 2020, to keep up with Jonez, you can follow him in IG @1junejonez.
