Sho-Time is making big business moves, inking a new joint venture with Ruby Recordings. Holding the title of president of Necsere Music Records, Sho-Time will oversee the label and build a staff to sign and develop artists. The label will also handle its own operations, creative strategy, marketing, and business affairs. Recently, Sho-Time teamed up with hip-hop artist Stack Daniels for his second official release of the year, titled “Body’, via Ruby Recordings. We recently caught up with Sho-Time and asked him a few questions:

When you started making music, how has your life changed?

My life has changed in more ways than one. I’m able to support my family, which is most important. But I also have an outlet and can share what I’m going through and a way to relate to people who are living the same lifestyles.

How do you think the COVID-19 pandemic altered the music industry?

COVID-19 forced people to boss up and create new methods of bringing in income. People had to put their minds to use and find ways outside of their normal avenues.

What current projects are you working on that we can expect in the future?

My EP Grace is on the way. It will feature some big names. I’m also getting offers for tv roles and movies, so you’ll also see me there.

What would you tell upcoming artists trying to make it in the music industry?

The best advice is to learn the business side of the industry and sharpen up on that at the same time that you are sharpening your skills. Get a strong marketing team; I love ruby recordings because they let me stay independent and use their teams and tools. Working with people who genuinely want to see you win is important. It’s also important for you to see them win!
