Interview: Dav The Ninja
Hempstead, New York native Dav The Ninja just released his latest single Panic. His debut beat tape In Peace released through BWS in early 2019, and since, with little radio play or promo, the project has, as of earlier this month, moved over 1M streams. With an eclectic sound and passionate delivery, Panic is a must listen. Panic comes on the heels of singles, Key 2 Tha Beamer feat. King Koran & XAY released a month prior. We recently caught up with Dav The Ninja and asked him a few questions:
When you started making music, how has your life changed?
As a kid kept in recluse, music has always been the social construct in my life where that was the only thing that brought self-satisfaction. From jazz playing the saxophone to producing original beats, I was always accountable for creating my own reality.
How do you think the COVID-19 pandemic altered the music industry?
The pandemic altered the industry in a way where there is currently a lot of room for artists that consider themselves in a “genre-less” category. The main idea of no particular sound nor style being of any barrier, but refreshing enough to evolve into a sound that is refined to how people live their lives behind their masks. It’s interesting to observe.
What current projects are you working on that we can expect in the future?
I’m currently working on various projects with artists in the BLAQWALLSTREET roster. We are setting to release more music towards 2021.
What would you tell upcoming artists trying to make it in the music industry?
For upcoming artists, I would say stay consistent, patient and thorough in yourself throughout the journey. Never take the business personal.
