Ayal Kleinman Talks Music Marketing
We recently got a chance to sit down with successful music marketing guru Ayal Kleinman, and asked him a few question regarding his success.
When you started your marketing agency, how has your life changed?
Starting my marketing agency allowed me to apply my 20 years of marketing and digital marketing experience into a brand onto itself. Today I’m able to help artists big and small; labels big and small in achieving their marketing and brand awareness goals no matter the size of budget or amount of repertoire. This gives me a great sense of purpose, and I have new challenges/initiatives every single day.
How do you think the COVID-19 pandemic altered the TikTok platform?
Absolutely! Tik Tok was already becoming a dominant platform with Generation Z and beyond with most young users making content right from their bedrooms before everyone was forced to stay at home. The stay at home orders enabled the platform to flourish with content, and also broaden its audience as kids were getting the rest of their families involved in the content creation side. I think the pandemic just accelerated their growth and market share.
What current projects are you working on that we can expect in the future?
The Tik Tok campaign for YFN Lucci “Wet” that started with my Tik Tok platform a couple of months ago is now a Gold record! I am immensely proud to have been a very large part of that campaign. I am continuing to work on projects with labels such as Alamo Records, RCA, Epic, Universal, and smaller labels like Stream Cut and Lomo Vista in various capacities. I am working on my own label and building out my marketing agency offerings as well.
What would you tell upcoming artists trying to make it in the music industry?
Find a way to make the current landscape of social media and other awareness drivers work for your brand. Don’t ignore Tik Tok because you feel its currently off brand for you, as you will most likely be playing catch up. That goes for other platforms as well.
